Android Tablets to be Featured in Business Class Flights

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Thinner and lighter than the iPad, Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the newer version of the older 7” Galaxy Tab and it has now found another market to enter. American Airlines and Samsung announced last Monday to equip all of the former’s posh flight cabins with these Android tablets. Samsung released its new refurbished Galaxy tab series this year at the CTIA running on Android honeycomb 3.0.

There will be 6,000 such tablets out there for a select number of transcontinental and international flights. New York (JFK), Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco and Boston premium flights will now boast this new addition so will international flights to South America and Europe.

American Airlines will be the first Airlines to undertake this step of offering a branded tablet computer on board in the North American airline industry.

The tablets can be utilized for TV shows, movie streaming, in-flight games and web browsing uses as well. This system will be replacing the older back-seat display system by the end of this year. Look out for Wi-Fi streaming as well!
