7inch Samsung Galaxy Tab with Android Gingerbread 2.3

Google Android yet again displayed the surprising and varying face of its strategies for a variety of products. Recently at the Google I/O it introduced Android @Home, a variety of Android Devices, Android OS update. Whereas in the wake of these happenings Samsung stated that the original 7-inch Galaxy Tab would be jumping notch up on Gingerbread soon or later. The update is available in various European countries. The update however necessitates for Tab users to utilize Samsung’s KIE software through PC Sync in order to install the update. Samsung also announced earlier in April that the Samsung Galaxy Tab will drop below the $350 price mark, which is a good thing for it is one of the only ways for Android to beat the iJuggernaut; The iPad.

Yet it still is a long wait ahead until carriers push that update apart from Samsung and for the update to get pushed out to us it must come from the carrier and not Samsung. Sprint retails the Galaxy Tab for either $499 or subsidized in a 2 year contract for $199.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Despite Android 3.0 Honeycomb being the premium OS for optimized Android Tablet experience the 2.3 Gingerbread is a welcome update from Android 2.2 Froyo.
